Text Messages

Mekudeshet is a matchmaking service for the Sephardic Jewish community, operated by Always Better Together Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. This page explains when we text you, what we send, and how to stop.

When we text you

Only when you ask. We text a one-time code to a mobile number when somebody types that number and taps a button asking for a code, and at no other time:

  • Signing in. Matchmakers and office staff can sign in to the Mekudeshet app, or at mekudeshet.org/app.html, with a code instead of a password. They type their own mobile number and tap “Text me a code” (“Send me a code” in the app).
  • Signing up. A single signing up in the Mekudeshet app confirms their own mobile number the same way, by typing it and tapping “Text me a code”.

Beside each of those buttons, before the tap, the screen says: “By tapping ‘Text me a code’ with a mobile number, you agree to receive a one-time sign-in code by text from Mekudeshet. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. We never share your number.” with links to our SMS Terms and Privacy Policy.

What we send

The code you asked for, and nothing else. Every text starts with “Mekudeshet:”. For example:

We never send marketing, promotional, fundraising or affiliate texts, and we never text on behalf of anyone else. We do not buy, rent or share lists of numbers.

How often

Message frequency varies: one text each time you ask for a code. Message and data rates may apply.

How to stop

Reply STOP to any text from us and we will send no more. Reply HELP for help. Texting is not a condition of anything: after STOP you can still sign in with an email address or a password, or call the office.

Your privacy

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party. See our SMS Terms and Privacy Policy.
